A webinar is an online seminar that focuses on a specific topic that is both relevant and current for early years providers.
Here you can get free access to monthly webinars hosted by our own early years experts.
Participants are able to view a ‘live’ presentation and have the opportunity to submit questions and contribute to discussion. Each webinar then remains available via our You Tube channel.
Re-establishing the foundations of early years: Welcome back parents
Aired: Thursday March 25 18.00- 19.00
Through the pandemic early years providers have worked tirelessly to maintain the positive relationships with parents that are vital to children’s learning and development.
There are many inspiring examples of ways in which providers maintained communication between a child’s home and the setting. Many of these new approaches, such as effective use of technology to engage with busy parents, will no doubt continue beyond the pandemic .
The 'opening up' phase has rightly focused on the needs of children as they settle back into the routine of early years. However it is also essential that we reconnect with parents and uphold the EYFS principles of positive relationships and enabling environments to support children's learning.
Please join Melanie Pilcher and Michael Freeston to reflect on the impact of the pandemic on parents as their child's 'first and most enduring educator' and explore what our priorities for parental engagement should look like now and in the coming months.
This session will also provide an update on the latest policy developments affecting the sector. Please contribute your views and experiences as part of our always lively and informative debate.
Last webinar: Securing the Foundations of Early Years: responding to the impact of the pandemic
Aired: Wednesday 24 February, 6-7pm
The early years sector has faced unprecedented challenges over the last year and should feel justly proud of its response. And whilst there are still uncertainties ahead, the vaccine rollout does provide hope that over the next few months, we can truly plan for the post-pandemic phase.
In this essential webinar, Melanie Pilcher, Quality and Standards Manager and Michael Freeston, Director of Quality Improvement, will consider emerging evidence from a range of studies and reports into the short and potential long-term impact of Covid-19 on children, parents and early years providers. These include concerns about children's emotional development and behaviour, their speech and communication and the well-being of staff and parents/ The session will also provide advice and guidance on how practitioners can respond to these challenges, building from the principles and approaches of the EYFS. Please join us to share your experiences of the pandemic and reflect on how the sector can move forward positively in the months and years ahead.
