SMARTpd webinars

Woman on laptop

A webinar is an online seminar that focuses on a specific topic that is both relevant and current for early years providers.

Here you can get free access to monthly SMARTpd webinars hosted by our own early years experts.

Participants are able to view a ‘live’ presentation and have the opportunity to submit questions and contribute to discussion. Each webinar then remains available via our You Tube channel.

Next webinar: Introducing the new Development Matters

Thursday 17 September 18:00 – 19:00

A new Development Matters, issued earlier this month, is intended to support the implementation of the 2021 Early Years Foundation Stage which includes the revised learning goals and educational programmes.

The year lead-in time to the new EYFS provides an opportunity for practitioners to familiarise themselves with the new framework and review their practice accordingly. Similarly the launch of the non-statutory Development Matters guidance encourages practitioners to reflect on their vital role of providing a curriculum that is rich, varied and based upon the interests and needs of the individual child.

Please join Michael Freeston, Director of Quality Improvement and Melanie Pilcher, Quality and Standards Manager as they explore the new document, consider and its aim to support the new EYFS.

Previous webinar: Welcome Back: Supporting children with additional needs back into early years provision

Aired: Wednesday 22 July 18:00 – 19:00

Many news reports have highlighted the particular challenges that lockdown has set for children with special educational need and/or disabilities and their families. Early years practitioners will be keen to ensure that the welcome these children receive on their return to settings is as supportive as possible. Please join Nicola Gibson (Inclusion Manager) Melanie Pilcher (Quality and Standards Manager) and Michael Freeston (Director of Quality Improvement) to consider how best to create the positive environment each child needs. The session will be an opportunity for participants to raise questions and comments and share their experiences of welcoming back children with additional needs into their provision.

Our previous webinars are available on our YouTube channel.
