SMARTpd webinars

Woman on laptop

A webinar is an online seminar that focuses on a specific topic that is both relevant and current for early years providers.

Here you can get free access to monthly SMARTpd webinars hosted by our own early years experts.

Participants are able to view a ‘live’ presentation and have the opportunity to submit questions and contribute to discussion. Each webinar then remains available via our You Tube channel.

Welcome Back series: Meeting children's needs from day one

Thursday, May 28, 2020 4PM - 5PM BST

With early years settings planning to open up their provision from 1 June, this essential webinar will consider the emotional, learning and development needs of the returning children. Melanie Pilcher (Quality and Standards Manager) and Michael Freeston (Director of Quality Improvement) will reflect on the government guidance published on 24 May and draw on the practical experiences of managers and staff who have remained open during lockdown.

The session will focus on ensuring that the children's needs are at the heart of the opening up process, recognising that the children who left you in March will not be the same as those returning in June; their experiences of lockdown, whether positive or less so will have changed them and your provision and practice must be ready to adapt to them.

Focus on furloughing for the early years

Thursday 4 June 5.30PM-6.30PM BST

Neil Leitch, Alliance chief executive and Mandip Sanghera, Law-Call legal advice and review centre manager join host, Paul Donaldson, Alliance director of human resources to explore the implications and impact of this scheme on the sector. The session will give useful, informative and practical advice to ensure you make the most of this extra funding.

Paul opens the session giving an overview of the scheme, what it involves, how it works and covering the detail of the recent extension to the end of October 2020. The session then gives a broader perspective on the impact of the scheme for the Sector, exploring how this scheme and related funding is working to support providers through this crisis.

Our legal expert, Mandip, closes the session, identifying key themes emerging from attendee questions and tackling the most common key questions raised to ensure everyone benefits as much as possible from the scheme. While Mandip can’t respond to specific or individual circumstances or scenarios from attendees, she will address key themes and areas of confusion around the scheme.

N.B. Attendees are invited to submit their questions in advance as part of the booking process. We can then cover as many questions as possible in the limited time available. For Alliance members with specific queries, please do speak with Law-Call to access to your free legal advice as part of your membership with us.
