Our well qualified, committed and experienced team work hard to create a caring and learning environment for children to learn and develop in their early years. We know that every child develops differently and at different times. Every child has a key person who understands their individual needs and interests. This helps us to ensure that every child feels involved, stimulated and happy in our care.

We follow rigorous staff recruitment, selection and supervision procedures to ensure that anyone joining our team undertakes relevant security checks including Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, references and qualification checks. Parents are reassured knowing that child protection and safeguarding underpins every aspect of our practice and will continue to remain a priority for us.

Your 'key person'

Every child who joins the nursery receives support from an experienced member of the team. They are responsible for your child’s individual needs and known as the ‘key person’. The key person is your main point of contact however all nursery staff are happy to feedback on your child’s developmental progress on a daily basis or discuss any concerns with you. They will also keep records of your child’s progress and achievement, which are always available for you to see and contribute towards.

Your child’s key person will make time to find out from you about your child’s interests, likes, dislikes and special requirements. Please share any important or useful information when you register your child and throughout their time with us. This helps us to give your child the most appropriate care and learning to suit their developmental, emotional and physical needs. You can access and contribute your views to your child's progress and achievements in their records.

  Teresa Simpson - Childcare Manager

Designated Safe guarding person.

A mother of two and grandmother of four, lives in Giltbrook, Nottingham.

Teresa has worked in Early Years education since 1998 and holds CACHE diploma in Early Years Care and Education, worked seven years  in the baby room and became room leader with the Early Years Childcare Group at Manor Farm Day Nursery in East Leake Leicestershire, Joined the Alliance in 2005 as a Deputy manager, became a manager in 2007 at our Bestwood childcare site, before opening this setting.

 Being SENCO trained, Teresa has experience with babies and young children with specific and complex needs, helping them to reach goals through working together with other professionals like physiotherapists by following excersie programs daily to enhance and develop their full potential and to support their families needs.

 Jennifer Taylor - Deputy Childcare Manager

Jennifer Is the settings SENCO and language Lead she holds a level 3 CACHE diploma qualification gained in 2013. Jennifer lives in the local community, has two children who both attended Selston Childcare and also the adjoining Holly Hill Primary School.

Jennifer has personal SEN experience with her own child and has used this to help other parents. Jennifer started her training with the Early Years Alliance after being a volunteer parent when her children attended. Jennifer helps as a volunteer in the local community at the Friday fun club.

 Jessica Turac - Childcare Practitioner 

Jess lives in Selston and has a six year old son, who started at Selston Childcare as a two year old.

Jess got interested in our activities and work through her son's time with us. Started to work with the team as bank staff. When an opportunity through the Alliance became vacant at Selston, Jess was enjoying her role so much she decided to gain a CACHE diploma level 3 qualification in Early Years, which she gained in March 2016, through the Alliance's training program. Since then she has gone on to do more training, and is now qualified in Paediactric First Aid, Food Safety and Fire safety.

Jess would like to progress in her career and do more to develop her skills with the Alliance in the future.

 Morag Dempster - Childcare Practitioner

Morag lives locally and holds a City & Guilds level 3 in childcare.

Worked for the Alliance since 2009. Morag has taken part in many local community events as a volunteer to gain more experiences and to keep busy. Her past placements have been at Selston C of E school and the Tin Hat centre to name a few.

Daughter of Reverend Adrian Dempster Morag is looking forward to Volunteering at  St Helens Church for the Sunday school in 2019.  

Morag enjoys arts and crafts activities with the children and making greetings as her hobby.

 Verity Holmes - Childcare Practitioner

Verity has two sons and a new baby daughter. Has been with the Alliance since 2009, holds a level 2 and 3 CACHE diploma in Early Years, gained through the Alliance's training opportunities which also include, Paediatric First Aid, Food Safety, Language and Communication and many more.

Verity has many skills to her credit, one of which is being qualified in hair dressing and beauty, which remains an interest and hobby.

Currently on maternity leave Verity is looking forward to returning to Selston Childcare in 2019 to further her personal development in her career.

She has been missed by children, parents and colleges who are looking forward to her return.
