The UK Council for Internet Safety has published online safety guidance for early years practitioners. 'Safeguarding children and protecting professionals in early years settings' aims to help practitioners safeguard both children and adults online:

Ofsted has updated its 'Inspecting safeguarding' guidance to confirm that early years staff who start working in settings before their DBS check has come through should not be left in unsupervised contact with children.

The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) has released draft guidance on child abuse and neglect which advises that education and care professional, including early years practitioners, should look for "soft" signs that could indicate that a child is being abused or neglected, such as excessive clinginess, low self-esteem, and over-friendliness towards strangers.

Ofsted has published a new guide for inspectors on inspecting safeguarding under the common inspection framework. The guidance comes into effect as of September 2015.

The Department for Education have published a number of revised safeguarding documents:
- Working together to safeguard children (2015) sets out how organisations and individuals should work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and how practitioners should conduct the assessment of children. The document replaces Working together to safeguard children (2013).
- Information sharing: Advice for practitioners providing safeguarding services to children, young people, parents and carers (2015) provides guidance for front-line practitioners and senior managers on when and how to share personal information legally and professionally. This document replaces Information sharing: guidance for practitioners and managers (2008).
- What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused: advice for practitioners (2015) explains the signs of abuse and neglect to look out for the action to take if you think a child is being abused or neglected. This document replaces What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused (2006).
