About us

Northend Nursery offers a stimulating approach to early years development and learning for very young children. Within a safe, friendly and fun environment, children are supported by qualified, caring staff in developing a wide range of skills and interests. The children enjoy learning through play experiences in bright indoor and outdoor play areas with exciting outings planned regularly.

We are managed by the Early Year's Alliance, one of the largest providers of childcare in England with over 50 years experience delivering childcare and practical, professional support to early years practitioners.

Our nursery plans its activities in accordance with the EYFS with a strong focus on exploratory, imaginative play and healthy eating. We recognise and understand the huge benefits that free flow play has on the positive development of very young children. Every child in our care is supported by a key person who understands their individual needs and offers special care and support to them.

Rigorous health & safety and safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to ensure that every child is protected and feels safe and happy with us.

Forest School

We provide Forest School opportunities as part of our core offer. This supports the children's learning development and interests within an outdoor environment.

The children have taken part in activities such as mud mixing (leading to mud painting and mud pies), digging , collecting, bird watching, listening activities, nest  making, mini beast hunts and den building for woodland creatures and there are plans for shelter building.

Children have many opportunities for sorting, counting, matching and sizing and use problem solving skills and imaginative thinking, as well as using reference books to identify insects, plants, trees and birds. This is continued within our three indoor areas at the nursery with an interest table to support curiosity.

Easter Celebrations

The children and staff team at Northend brought in eggs and gifts to support a fundraiser with an Easter raffle. The children, staff team and managers also made cakes for our cake sale, which was very well received by all children and parents who supported us.

Easter is a Christian festival that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that Christ died on the cross on a day called Good Friday, which this year falls on the 19th April. Easter is on different dates each year, between 21st March and the 25th April, depending on when there a full moon in spring.

According to the Bible, Jesus was then resurrected and came back to life on Easter Sunday. This is the most important day in the Christian calendar.

Many Christians will spend time at church in thought, prayer and celebration of Jesus Christ's life, and may get together with friends and family for a special meal.

There are also some more modern traditions to mark Easter which are very common such as Easter eggs, the Easter bunny and chocolate.

The story of the Easter Bunny is thought to have become common in the 19th Century. Rabbits usually give birth to a big litter of babies (called kittens), so they become a symbol of new life. Legend has it that the Easter bunny lays, decorates and hides eggs as they are also a symbol of new life.

Link to EYFS - children become aware and begin to understand the world around them building positive relationships where they celebrate and value cultural religious and community events and experiences.

Our Team

Josie Lait - Nursery Manager

Our well qualified, committed and experienced team work hard to create a caring and learning environment in the nursery. We know that every child develops differently and at different times. Every child has a key person who understands how their individual needs and interests. This helps us to ensure that every child feels involved, stimulated and happy in our care.

We follow rigorous staff recruitment, selection and supervision procedures to ensure that anyone joining our team undertake relevant security checks including Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure, references and qualification checks. Parents are reassured knowing that child protection and safeguarding underpins every aspect of our practice and will continue to remain a priority for us.

Your child's 'key person'

Every child who joins the nursery receives support from an experienced member of the team. They are responsible for your child’s individual needs and known as the ‘key person’. The key person is your main point of contact however all nursery staff are happy to feedback on your child’s developmental progress on a daily basis or discuss any concerns with you. They will also keep records of your child’s progress and achievement, which are always available for you to see and contribute towards.

Your child’s key person will make time to find out from you about your child’s interests, likes, dislikes and special requirements. Please share any important or useful information when you register your child and throughout their time with us. This helps us to give your child the most appropriate care and learning to suit their developmental, emotional and physical needs. You can access and contribute your views to your child's progress and achievements in their records.
