The Department for Education has set a target for all education settings to have a sustainability lead and a climate action plan in place by 2025, to “help embed sustainability in all they do”.
This includes an expectation that all education settings, including early years settings, will “nominate a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan”.
To help support early years providers to meet these expectations, the Alliance is pleased to launch our latest toolkit, Supporting effective environmental sustainability in early years settings.
The aim of the toolkit is to support those working in early years settings to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of eco-sustainable practice and to help embed this approach both in the setting and beyond into the home learning environment.
The toolkit includes top tips, links and a range of resources for use by both providers and families. You’ll receive a climate action template, digital activity cards and lots of ideas on actions to take and how to get the conversation started.
