Volunteer with us

Every year, over 750 Alliance volunteers give up valuable time and contribute their talents, skills and knowledge to change the lives of families with very young children.
Volunteers support our work in many ways. Some help us occasionally with fundraising activities or nursery outings, while others become a treasurer or secretary at their child’s local pre-school and join a parent-run committee.

“I started volunteering in Little Explorers (Early Years Group). I knew it was something I wanted to do when my daughter started school.
The CSSA introduced me to Katie, the Skills Development Officer. I was scared, but Katie made me feel at ease.
Now, I have done several training and attended a craft workshop. I also volunteer at Homestart. Everyone is very helpful and supportive and wants to know if I want to do anything different.”

“Since volunteering in reception at Swingbridge Children’s Centre I am more motivated to learn English (I rarely use this language because I only have Polish friends).
I’ve never felt confident to drive in England; the first time I went to Swingbridge to volunteer, I went on foot.
Because it is quite far I had to learn to drive. This is a huge benefit to me – I don’t worry anymore and can drive all around Grantham! I am really happy.”
